Step One. Decide on your preferred blind position. The top of the blind usually looks best at 10cm above the recess. For the hem position, blinds usually fall 5-15cm below the sill (or to the sill if the sill projects). Measure the length between the top of the blind and the hem position. This is the finished length (measure in several places to find the length that best suits). Step Two. Measure the recess width. Now decide how much the blind is to overhang beyond the recess either side and add this to your recess width (usually at least 5cm to each side, check for obstructions). This gives your finished width. Step Three. This is the finished length of your blind. Step Two. Measure the width of the recess at its narrowest point. Subtract 1cm from the reveal width; allowing for a 5mm clearance to each side. Firstly, you will need to have an idea of the type of pole or track you are going to use. Step Two. Decide the positioning at which your pole or track will be fixed. For a typical window without architraves, we recommend poles and tracks overhang the width of the window by no less than 15cm (6") each side and the bottom of the pole/track typically fixed no less than 13cm (5") above the top of the window recess.
